Application Process

Medical Students requesting a clinical rotation at Deaconess must complete all requirements as outlined below.

Medical Student Application Requirements:
  • A student’s medical school must be LCME or AOA accredited. For international medical schools, the schools must be listed on the “Indiana’s Approved Medical School” list as found on the Indiana Professional Licensing website. Students of schools listed on the “Indiana’s Disapproved Medical Schools” list will not be approved under any circumstances. Any other schools will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Medical student must be a US citizen or a permanent resident
  • Must be actively enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student of an approved medical school
  • Students must pass Step 1 USMLE/COMLEX prior to acceptance, others will be reviewed on a case by case basis
  • Rotations must be requested at least 60 days in advance
  • Professional Liability obtained from school
 Student Request Process:
 
  • Complete application
  • Create a letter of introduction describing the following information:
    • Why Deaconess was chosen for student rotation
    • Area of practice interest following graduation
    • Name and contact information for school Clinical Coordinator
  • Submit completed documents to Student.Rotations@Deaconess.com
  • Deaconess utilizes the online rotation management system, myClinicalExchange (MCE). The school Clinical Coordinator or student must create a MCE profile and request the rotation on the platform. https://www.myclinicalexchange.com/MainPage.aspx
  • Each student will be charged a nominal fee:
    • 12 Month Subscription - $39.50
    • 18 Month Subscription - $59.50
    • 24 Month Subscription - $79.00
    • *Students will not be charged until after the rotation has been accepted by Academic Coordinator in MCE.
  • After application, supporting documents, and rotation availability have been reviewed by the Academic Coordinator, you will be contacted with an approval or denial via email and/or MCE.
*Students MUST submit a new application for each rotation. No need to resubmit supporting documents*
Before Your Rotation Begins:
  • Medical Students are required to submit/complete the following in myClinicalExchange prior to the start of the rotation:
  1. Profile Photo (this will be used for your badge)
  2. Background Check
  3. BLS
  4. Complete Bloodborne Pathogen Assessment
  5. Complete HIPAA Assessment
  6. Complete OSHA Assessment
  7. Deaconess Confidentiality Form
  8. Deaconess Handbook & Acknowledgement
  9. Deaconess Health Inventory
  10. Deaconess Insurance Certification/Waiver
  11. Drug Screen
  12. Immunization Records (TB, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TDAP)
  13. Influenza Vaccination (for rotations October-March, annually)
  14. Insurance Certification/ Liability Waiver
  15. Letter of Good Standing
  16. Malpractice Insurance
  17. Photo ID (Government Issued)
