Do You Suffer from Hives?

Urticaria, also known as hives, is an outbreak of swollen, pale red bumps or plaques on the skin that appear suddenly -- either as a result of the body's adverse reaction to certain allergens or for unknown reasons. Hives usually cause itching but may also burn or sting. They can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, lips, tongue, throat or ears.

If you have had hives for six months or more, you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study of an investigational medication conducted by Deaconess Clinic Allergists. You must be age 18 or older to qualify.

Health insurance is not required and participation is voluntary.
