The Heart Hospital Receives another 5-Star Rating from CMS

1/24/2018
For the third time in three years, The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway earned a 5-star rating from CMS for its outstanding quality and patient care.

In December 2017, CMS, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, awarded 5-star ratings to 337 of the more than 4,000 eligible Medicare-certified acute-care hospitals. That’s only 8% of eligible hospitals.

“As the region’s only acute-care hospital dedicated to heart and vascular care, our team provides patients with a world-class experience from admission through cardiac rehabilitation,” says Becky Malotte, Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer of The Heart Hospital. “We are honored that CMS recognizes the continued success of our compassionate, caring, staff and exceptionally talented physicians as they provide the kind of care that leads to successful outcomes and satisfied patients.”

The stars and other relevant information related to hospital quality measures appear on the Hospital Compare website that helps consumers find hospitals and more easily compare the quality of care at each one. www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare

CMS overall star ratings assigned to hospitals are based on 57 quality measures across seven areas of performance: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and the efficient use of medical imaging.
