Gynecologic Oncology

The Women’s Cancer Center provides specialty care for women with gynecologic cancers and the region’s only gynecologic oncologist.  If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a type of gynecologic cancer, ask your health care provider about a referral to The Women’s Cancer Center.

What is a gynecologic cancer?

Gynecologic cancers affect a woman’s reproductive organs, including the cervix, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, vagina and vulva. Each year, approximately 82,000 women are diagnosed with cancer of the reproductive organs, including ovarian cancer and cervical cancer.

Who is a gynecologic oncologist?

Gynecologic oncologists are physicians committed to the comprehensive treatment of women with these cancers. Gynecologic oncologists are not only trained to be skilled surgeons capable of performing a wide-range of cancer surgeries, but they are also trained in prescribing the appropriate chemotherapy for those conditions and/or radiation therapy when needed.
