    • Procedures are an important part of Family Medicine.
    • Residents are encouraged to do procedures throughout their clinical training.
    • Most preceptors will allow residents to do procedures including intubations, placing central lines, joint injections, suturing and much more.
    • Residents are required to become competent in the following procedures by graduation.

    • Cryosurgery
    • EKG Interpretation
    • Eye Fluorescein Exam
    • I&D of Abscess
    • Immobilization and Stabilization of Orthopedic Injuries
    • Injection and Aspiration of Joints
    • Injection of Tendons, Ligaments and Muscles
    • Pap Smear
    • Simple Laceration Repair with Sutures
    • Skin Biopsies – Punch, Excisional and Shave
    • Toenail and Foreign Body Removal
    • Wet Mount
    • Artificial Rupture of Membranes
    • Fetal Scalp Electrode Placement
    • Intrauterine Pressure Catheter Placement
    • Tympanometry
    • Circumcision (Conscientious objection policy applies)
    • Non-stress Test
    • Spirometry Interpretation
    • UA with Microscopy
    • Long Acting Reversible Contraception (IUD or Nexplanon – Conscientious objection policy applies)
