Nurses
Nurses complete specialized training and continually learn about advances in trauma care to ensure you receive the highest-level care available. They work with you and the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate your plan of care and ensure readiness for discharge.
Patient Care Technicians
Patient care associates and student nurses assist the nurse, physician, advanced practice providers and therapists in coordinating daily care for the trauma patient. They are a vital part of the health care team and work very closely with the nurse to achieve your daily goals.
Respiratory Therapists
Respiratory therapists work with patients to improve lung status with exercises, ventilator care, and different breathing treatments.
Physical and Occupational Therapists
Physical and occupational therapists work with the trauma patient to build strength, improve mobility, educate about weight bearing restrictions and provide equipment training (walkers, crutches, slide boards), with the goal of improving the patient's independence in daily activities.
Dieticians
Dieticians work with the trauma team to improve the nutritional status of the patient and promote healing.
Case Managers and Social Workers
Case managers and social workers assist the patient and the insurance company with discharge planning and equipment needs.
Trauma Surgeon
Trauma surgeons coordinate and manage the care of the trauma patient. They ensure proper consults, medications and tests are ordered, coordinate discharge planning, and make sure necessary follow-up is ordered for you prior to discharge. All trauma surgeons at Deaconess Memorial are affiliated with Evansville Surgical Associates.
