Ribbon Cutting on Region's First Combined ER and Urgent Care Facility

Deaconess Health System today cut the ribbon on the Tri-State’s first-ever combined emergency and urgent care facility, ensuring patients have 24/7 access to the high-quality, cost-effective care close to home.

The 19,000 square-foot facility is located at 5001 Healthy Way near the intersection of Lynch and North Green River roads. It features an ambulance bay, round-the-clock on-site laboratory and radiology services, including X-ray, ultrasound and a 64-slice CT scanner.

“This facility has been years in the making, and today is about more than cutting a ribbon,” said Dr. Brad Scheu, Deaconess Indiana Region President. “It’s about giving our community a simpler, more affordable way to get the right care, whenever they need it, without the stress of deciding where to go.”

By combining emergency and urgent care services under one roof, the state-of-the-art facility eliminates the need for patients to self-diagnose before seeking medical attention. Instead, board-certified emergency physicians and staff evaluate every patient on arrival to determine the right level of care needed.

“We hear it all the time: someone gets hurt or their child spikes a fever late at night, and their only option feels like the ER, even when the ER isn’t really what they need,” said Dr. Matthew Gilbert, Deaconess’ Medical Director of Emergency Services. “Now that worry is gone. Our team is here around the clock, and patients are billed based on the care they need, any hour of the day.”

Deaconess is partnering with Dallas-based Intuitive Health, which pioneered the combined ER & Urgent Care model in 2008.

The combined emergency and urgent care is part of a larger, three-story, roughly 60,000-square-foot development that will also house medical offices, imaging and an outpatient lab.
