    Welcome Dr. Naveed Chowhan to Deaconess Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center

    Dr. Naveed Chowhan

    Medical Oncologist Naveed Chowhan, MD, FACP, MBA has joined the medical staff at Deaconess Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center in Jasper, Indiana.  A medical oncologist is a doctor with special training in diagnosing and treating cancer in adults using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy.

    Dr. Chowhan received his medical degree at CETEC University in the Dominican Republic. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Service, DC General Hospital in Washington, DC, and a fellowship in oncology-hematology at State University of New York at Stony Brook in Stony Brook, New York. Dr. Chowhan completed a Master of Business Administration degree at University of Tennessee-Knoxville in Knoxville, Tennessee. He also has additional training in bone marrow transplantation and acupuncture. He is board certified in oncology and hematology.

    Dr. Chowhan has over 40 years of medical experience, most recently serving as chief of hematology at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He has participated extensively in clinical research and has been honored with several “Doctor of the Year” accolades. 

    When sharing his thoughts on Indiana, Dr. Chowhan said, “Indiana holds a special place in my heart. My first job after completing my training brought me here, and more than 30 years later, I still feel fortunate to call it home. While Indiana’s rolling countryside is beautiful, it’s the people who make it truly exceptional. Their generosity, humility, and strong sense of community have enriched both my professional and personal life. After three decades of practicing medicine here, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.”
