Heather Marin, MS, LCGC, has joined The Women’s Hospital as an oncology genetic counselor. In this role, Marin reviews a person’s medical and family histories, explains the basics of cancer genetics and provides information about potential cancer risk. Marin is also knowledgeable about the status of testing for genes associated with hereditary cancers and whether genetic testing is an appropriate option for a family to consider.

Marin received her Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology in 2001 from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. She completed her Master of Science degree in medical and molecular genetics in 2003 from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana. Marin is board certified in genetic counseling and licensed by the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana.

Prior to joining The Women’s Hospital, Marin practiced at St. Vincent Women’s Hospital at the Center for Prenatal Diagnosis in Indianapolis.

The Deaconess Health System is proud to provide our community with another way to find cancer, or the likelihood of cancer, at early and more treatable stages.

Midwest Radiologic Imaging at Deaconess Gateway has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in positron emission tomography (PET) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
