24 Hour pH Study
A diagnostic procedure where a small tube is inserted through the nose and into the esophagus and secured for 24 hours to measure acid reflux.

Colonoscopy
A procedure where the physician inserts a flexible tube and camera into the rectum for the purpose of inspecting the colon. A colonoscopy can be done for many reasons; screening for colon cancer is the most common purpose.

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
A diagnostic procedure used to examine diseases of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas. During this procedure, the physician will use x-ray and endoscope to diagnose the problem.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
An imaging procedure that physicians perform to help diagnose cancers or other problems of the liver, bile duct, gallbladder, pancreas, or digestive tract.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
The physician will use a thin tube with a light and camera on it to examine the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small bowel. This procedure is performed to help diagnose esophageal cancer, Barrett’s esophagus, and ulcer disease.

  • BARRX: During an EGD, the physician will deliver energy to the targeted area to ablate (remove) the tissue. This is used to treat Barrett’s Esophagus and GAVE Syndrome.
  • BRAVO: During an EGD, a small capsule is attached to the esophagus to record acid in your esophagus.
  • Feeding Tube Placement: During an EGD, a feeding tube will be inserted into the stomach to provide nutrition.

Manometry
A diagnostic procedure where a small tube is inserted through the nose and into the stomach to measure muscle function of the esophagus.

Small Bowel Capsule
A small camera in the shape of a pill is swallowed and takes pictures of your digestive tract.

Stool Transplant
This procedure is performed on patients with recurrent C. Diff infection to help re-populate the gut with beneficial bacteria. A donor will supply the stool needed and it is instilled in the patient during a colonoscopy, EGD, or through a nasogastric (NG) tube.
