If your child is admitted to the hospital, he or she will stay on the Pediatric Unit inside Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
This 17-bed specialty unit provides regular pediatric and intensive care for patients from infancy to age 17. Our patients have a wide range of acute illnesses such as RSV, influenza (the flu), respiratory conditions, dehydration, and hyperbilirubinemia. They also stay on our unit following surgery.
Together with Riley Hospital for Children IU Health, we designed this inpatient unit with the needs of children and families in mind. All patient rooms are private with enough space to accommodate equipment, bedside care and visitors. There is a TV and DVD player in each room and movies available at the nurses’ station. We even have video game systems and tablets for older kids.
