Heart Hospital Earns 5 Stars

Heart Hospital Earns 5-Stars for Carotid Surgery
The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway achieved 5-stars for its performance in Carotid Surgery for the third consecutive year from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
A 5-star rating indicates that The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated. In this case, the 5-star rating is for carotid surgery, a procedure that removes plaque from inside a carotid artery with the goal of preventing a stroke.

This achievement is part of new findings and data released by Healthgrades and featured in the Healthgrades 2018 Report to the Nation.
“The Heart Hospital is the only acute care heart hospital in the region dedicated to the treatment of heart and vascular care,” says Becky Malotte, Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer of The Heart Hospital. “As evidenced by this report and the 5-star rating, our compassionate, caring staff, and exceptionally talented physicians continue to provide the kind of care that leads to successful outcomes for our patients.”
The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway was recognized earlier in the year by Healthgrades as a recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award and the 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award.
Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. For more information about the Healthgrades awards, visit
