United StatesIL North Side Housing and Supportive Services
4410 N. Ravenswood Ave
Chicago, IL 60640
Organization Description: North Side Housing and Supportive Services (North Side Housing) has been serving men and women experiencing homelessness since 1983. A collaboration between community members and three churches in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood sharing a concern for the rising number of Chicagoans experiencing homelessness, led to establishing as overnight shelter, then known as Lakeview Shelter. Operating in a church basement, the aim was to provide food, shelter, and a safe environment to those in need. Recognizing the complexities of homelessness, services were expanded, and new programs were introduced, evolving the shelter into the comprehensive human services agency we are today. Dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness, North Side Housing provides a wide variety of services. We are committed to assisting over 800 clients each year in becoming and remaining stably housed, healthy, and employed. Programs and services include our 24-hour Emergency Shelter in Uptown, Day Services Center in Ravenswood (with food pantry, houseware, clothing closet, employment assistance, care coordination, case management, etc.). Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), Housing System Navigation, and Integrated Health Services. Our dedicated, knowledgeable staff have experience in serving Chicago's most vulnerable. Respect and dignity lay the foundation of our holistic, trauma-informed approach to working with clients. Services are provided in office, at participants' homes, and in the field. All programs involve intensive case management.

United StatesIL Progress Center For Independent Living
7521 Madison St.
Forest Park, IL 60130
Organization Description: I work at Progress Center for Independent Living and am presently co-leading a coalition called PPE For People with Disabilities , which is a group of over 30 individuals who are affiliated with Progress Center, Access Living, Rush University, Rush University, Univ. of Illinois at Chicago, SEIU, and Alliance for Community Services. Our mission is to access PPE and distribute it to our consumers with disabilities as well as their their Personal Assistants (who are considered essential healthcare workers) living Cook County (Chicago area).
Needs: We are presently advocating and working with the Illinois' Dept. of Human Services to provide us with N95/KN95 and other PPE, such as gloves and face shields; however, in short, the process with them is complex and slow moving (but I think we're getting somewhere!) So, that is why we are utilizing a grassroots, bottom-up approach as well and are seeking PPE donations. Not only will fabric masks be provided to our consumers with disabilities, but also to the volunteers who will be delivery the PPE packages to people's homes. We will accept as many adult size masks as possible, ideally at least 50-100; however, no donation is too small!
