Golden Age Village (GAV) was established in 1980 by Dr. Frances Wu, under the auspices of the Chinese American Golden Age Association (CAGAA), a non-profit corporation. It aims to provide affordable housing for low income seniors. It manages 120 rental units for approximately 150 residents, 99% of which are of immigrants, with an average age of 83. Social services and activities are provided in order to enhance the residents quality of life, such as English, computer, Tai Chi and other exercise classes, medical consultation availability, and movie appreciation events. Its open and welcoming facilities include a gym, library, computer room, laundry, and a multi-purpose room, all this surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens complemented with a koi pond in the City of Monterey Park, California.
CAGAA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. developed with funding through the Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which provides funding for housing projects for seniors 62 or older.
