Pharmacy Clinical Services

The members of the Deaconess Pharmacy Department — which is composed of over 95 pharmacists, over 75 technicians, 7 pharmacy interns, and 4 pharmacy residents — work together to provide the staffing for:
As a result, the opportunities for the staff to work in an area of their interest are endless. All pharmacists are considered clinical pharmacists and are encouraged to practice clinically. A combination of RPh and PharmD practitioners functions in all aspects of pharmacy practice after an extensive 8-week training program. Due to the variety of experiences offered, many of our pharmacists have gone beyond the basic pharmacy training by completing PGY1 Residency program and/or obtaining special advanced credentials to expand their clinical role.

Teamwork
Deaconess pharmacists have a high level of credibility with the Medical Staff who frequently seek the advice of a pharmacist. Pharmacists are consulted daily by the Medical Staff for drug dosing and evaluation of further medication needs. Teamwork within the department exceeds most places of employment. This group of pharmacists and technicians work together for the best interest of the patients at Deaconess.
