Policy for Educational Funds

  • Requests for funds shall be made through the Deaconess Foundation or through any active member of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Board of Directors.
  • Requests for funds shall be made using the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Fund Request. Forms will be the responsibility of the treasurer of the alumni board. Forms will be kept on file for two calendar years. 
  • Additional forms from the Deaconess Foundation will be necessary. 
  • Request for funds requires the signature of a current member of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Board of Directors.
  • Request for funds greater than $250 requires the signature of two current members of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Board of Directors.
  • Persons requesting funds shall be current members of the DHSON Alumni Association. Dues are $5 per calendar year.
  • Efforts to distribute funds fairly will be made. Requests by any individual greater than $250 in any calendar year will be reviewed by a minimum of two current members of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Board of Directors.
  • Preference to distribution of funds will be made for alumni who are current employees of Deaconess.
  • The DHSON Board of Directors may allocate funds for special educational needs for non-DHSON alumni who are Deaconess employees if the clinical area does not have any DHSON alumni on staff.
  • Funds distributed to DHSON alumni are for educational expenses only.
  • Funds will only be approved for payment to the educational institution, not the requesting individual.
