For 34 years, Deaconess has opened its doors to the future staff members of our Health System: local high school students. Through a two-week program in partnership with EVSC and funded by Deaconess Foundation, students gain firsthand experience in various medical careers, helping them make informed decisions about their future careers.
In June, students had the opportunity to visit Deaconess campuses, the University of Evansville, the University of Southern Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College, Purdue University and Marian University as part of the program. At Deaconess they shadowed Deaconess healthcare professionals and gained insight into the medical field, all while residing on the Midtown campus.
We congratulate this year’s Health Science Institute students and look forward to seeing the future paths they will take.
