Shawn McCoy, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer
An Evansville native, Shawn has served Deaconess for 25 years, beginning his tenure as an industrial engineering summer intern. He held many different and varied management roles throughout his career, moving to the chief operating officer position in 2005. The Board unanimously selected him to succeed Linda White as the CEO of Deaconess Health System based on his intimate knowledge of the organization, his business acumen, ability to forge relationships with physicians, and his involvement in the community and non-profit organizations. James R. Porter, MD, FAAP, FACHE
Originally from southeastern Illinois, Dr. Porter has been with Deaconess since 2000, beginning his career as a hospitalist. He has held various administrative roles during his tenure and became the chief medical officer in 2006. He is responsible for the physician enterprise which oversees quality of patient care, physician relationships, advancement of the electronic medical record, Deaconess’ accountable care organization and the infrastructure to support population health management. Mack Blanton, MD, FACP, FCCP
Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Blanton came to Deaconess from CHI St. Joseph Health in Bryan, TX in 2016. He served as senior vice president and chief medical officer at that organization where he led an 800-member medical staff. Prior to his time in Bryan, Dr. Blanton achieved the rank of full colonel in the United States Army and served as deputy commander for clinical services at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
Jared Florence, CPA
Vice President Business Development
Jared came to Deaconess in 2012 as the director of Business Development and was promoted to vice president Business Development in 2016. Prior to joining Deaconess, Jared was executive director of Finance and Business Development for St. Mary’s Health (now Ascension) and has over 15 years of health care experience. In his current role, Jared is responsible for regional development, hospital partnerships and affiliations, post-acute care, cancer services and marketing. View Full Bio
Cherona J. Hajewski DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive
Cherona joined Deaconess in July 2007 as vice president patient care services and chief nursing officer. She brings 20 years of chief nurse executive experience to the position and more than 37 years of health care knowledge. Prior to joining Deaconess, Cherona was the senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, IN where she led the hospital to receive the first ANCC Magnet designation in the state.
Lynn Lingafelter, RN, ACHE, AONE
Chief Operating Officer
A graduate of the Deaconess School of Nursing, Lynn began her career at Deaconess shortly after earning her RN degree in 1987. She served as the department director for Surgical Services and the Emergency Department before advancing into a senior leadership position. Lynn is responsible for the overall operation of Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Deaconess Cross Pointe and the Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital scheduled to open in 2018.
Cheryl Wathen, CPA
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
In 1990, Cheryl moved from a regional accounting firm in Kentucky to Deaconess. She held various positions within the health system before her promotion to chief financial officer in 2010. Those positions include director of Internal Audit; manager of Finance and Accounting; chief financial officer for The Women’s Hospital; and controller for the health system. Cheryl is responsible for the business practice of the health system including work with insurance companies, government entities and other financial organizations. View Full Bio
Allen White, MD
Vice President and Chief Physician Administrative Officer, Deaconess Clinic and Ambulatory Practices
Dr. White transitioned from clinical practice at Deaconess Clinic Morganfield to part-time medical director at Deaconess Clinic in 2011. As the 2008 merger of Welborn Clinic and Deaconess Medical Group began to solidify and grow into a successful organization, Dr. White accepted a full-time role as medical director and eventually vice president of Deaconess Clinic. The clinic currently has 160 physicians and advance level practitioners in 30 locations throughout Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
The Women's Hospital
Christina M. Ryan, MHA, BSN
Chief Executive Officer
Originally from Chicago, IL, Christina joined Deaconess in 1999 when she was recruited to help plan and open The Women’s Hospital. Before coming to Deaconess, she served as director of Women and Children’s Services at Franciscan St. Margaret Health in northwest Indiana. In partnership with the physician-owners of The Women’s Hospital, Christina is responsible for the overall operation of the hospital. That includes labor and delivery, surgery, NICU, emergency and fertility services.
The Heart Hospital
Rebecca L. Malotte, MSN, RN, CAAMA, FACCA
Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer
Rebecca graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing in 1973 and immediately began her career at Deaconess. Over time, she held a number of health care related positions before becoming executive director at The Heart Hospital when it opened in 2006. In cooperation with the physician-owners of The Heart Hospital, Rebecca is responsible for the overall operation of the facility and its services. This includes the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of all types of heart and vascular conditions.
Deaconess Cross Pointe
Scott Branam, MBA, LMHC
Chief Administrative Officer
Scott came to Deaconess in 2016 from IU Health - Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN where he served as the behavioral health service line administrative director for 10 years. In his current position, Scott oversees a 60-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital for adolescents and adults, outpatient behavioral health services, an Employee Assistance Program and the Center for Life Balance.
HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital
Chief Executive Officer
Blake became CEO of HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital in November 2014. He previously served as the director of Marketing and the director of Human Resources before being promoted to his current position. Blake is responsible for the 80-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital as well as the 18-bed rehabilitation unit located on the fourth floor of Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He also serves as the liaison between HealthSouth Deaconess and Birmingham based parent company, HealthSouth Corporation.
