Ready to Treat the Most Complex Injuries and Illnesses

Urgent vs Emergency CareThe bad news is: an emergency can happen to anyone at anytime. The good news is: the Deaconess Emergency Center is ready at all times to handle urgent, often life-threatening cases. Our board-certified emergency physicians and specially trained staff can help ensure you have access to quality care—at any time, for any emergency.

Deaconess Emergency CenterA Unique Trauma Center
More than 50,000 patients come through the doors of the Deaconess Emergency Center for treatment each year. Individuals with cuts, sprains and sudden fevers require relatively minor care. However, a significant number of our emergency patients require more advanced services. As a specialized Trauma Center, Deaconess is prepared to handle these acute situations.

The Deaconess Emergency Center features three trauma rooms and specialized treatment rooms, and a poison control center. It is the only emergency facility in Evansville with a board-certified emergency physician on staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through the use of radio communication, our staff can even begin to direct care while the patient is still in an ambulance enroute to the waiting trauma team at the hospital. Chest Pain ER

The Emergency Center's Fast Track area offers high quality, walk-in medical care for minor medical emergencies. This area, as part of the main Emergency Center, has all of the back up resources of the hospital's x-ray and lab departments.

Fast Track offers efficient, timely and quality patient care and is staffed by physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses who work under the guidance of the emergency medical physicians.

Accessible Care
Deaconess firmly practices its mission by offering emergency treatment to all who seek it. A triage nurse assesses all incoming patients when they enter the Emergency Center. This triage function ensures that each patient will be taken care of in the most efficient manner. Our staff also makes provisions for follow-up care, whenever appropriate.

Teamwork is the key to the success rate of the Deaconess Emergency Center. A specially trained team is prepared to handle any emergency situation that arises.
