The Deaconess Family Medicine Residency Program is housed in a 15,000-square-foot, free standing facility, located on the hospital's main campus. The center offers 21 exam rooms as well as offices for residents, faculty and support staff. The center operates on a paperless charting system, a state-of-the-art computer application that allows physicians and staff members to care for patients more effectively. Residents' office space is located at the center, with individual modular desk and workspace designated for each resident.
The center is named in honor of Dr. Wallace M. Adye, former Family Medicine Residency director, for his contributions to the advancement of medical education at Deaconess Hospital. Dr. Adye also helped to enhance the quality of life for people in the Tri-State through his leadership of the Deaconess Family Medicine Program from 1978 to 1995. Dr. Adye was honored in 2004 with the title, Director Emeritus, for his tireless devotion to promoting medical education at Deaconess Hospital.
Medical services provided at the Family Medicine Center include free immunizations for infants and children, prenatal care and delivery, work and school physicals, care for occupational and sports injuries, including minor surgeries and repair of lacerations, flu shots, pneumonia and hepatitis B vaccines and free adult tetanus boosters. Care at the center is delivered under the direct guidance of the Residency Director, Kim Volz, M.D.
