Surgical Care

Combining State-Of-The-Art Technology with a Comforting Human Touch

If asked to describe state-of-the-art surgical care, most people would first think of the technology involved. At The Women's Hospital, we know that advanced surgical equipment is only part of the equation. Another crucial component is the people who provide the care. We carefully weigh both sides of the equation at The Women's Hospital.

Even the best equipment is useless without skilled hands to guide it. The Women's Hospital provides exceptional surgical care because of the medical experts who provide the care. Our experts include the area's most skilled physicians and nurses who have extensive experience caring for women with medical and surgical needs.

These professionals are supported by an interdisciplinary team including registered dietitians, physical therapists, social workers, respiratory therapists, home care nurses, and providers of pastoral care. They deliver top-quality care combined with compassion and a comforting human touch that makes the surgical experience easier for patients and their loved ones.

Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery

Our miminally invasive surgery program at The Women’s Hosptial has been recognized as a Surgical Center of Excellence by the American Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS). Over 80% of our gynecological procedures are performed using minimally invasive surgical techniques. When selecting medical equipment, we choose the most advanced technology available providing overall lower risks to patients, and better outcomes.

We have several surgeons who perform procedures using a variety of minimally invasive techniques including:

  • Hysteroscopic Procedures
  • Laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic Procedures including but not limited to:
    • Laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy
    • Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy
    • Cyst removals
    • Endometriosis excision
    • Vaginal prolapse repairs
    • Myomectomy
    • Single-Incision Laparoscopic Procedures
    • Sacrocolpoplexy

Benefits to Women Who Choose Minimally Invasive Surgery may include:

  • Less Pain
  • Less Blood Loss
  • Minimal Scarring
  • Quicker recovery time
  • Quicker return to normal daily activities
  • Overall, better clinical outcomes

Of course, we understand that not every patient may be a candidate for minimally invasive surgical procedures and our surgeons are also experienced with open surgeries if they should be needed.
