The Heart Hospital Receives 5-Star Ratings 

The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway achieved 5-stars for its performance in Pacemaker Procedures for three years in a row and Carotid Surgery for two years in a row from Healthgrades, the leading online resource helping consumers make informed decisions to find the right doctor, the right hospital for the right care.
 
This achievement stems from data released in the Healthgrades 2017 Report to the Nation. A 5-star rating indicates that The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.



This is the first year for The Heart Hospital to receive a Patient Safety Excellence Award™ 2016 

Named among the Top 5% in the Nation for Patient Safety!  The Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for how well a hospital prevents infections, medical errors, and other complications based on 14 serious, potentially preventable adverse events. Patients receiving care at Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient hospitals have, on average, a lower risk of experiencing patient safety events.



 



The Heart Hospital received the Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ in 2016.

Named among the Top 10% in the Nation for Outstanding Patient Experience!  The Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recognizes hospitals for providing outstanding patient experience based on 10 measures related to doctor and nurse communication, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, and medication and post-discharge care instructions.

The award is based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient survey data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The Heart Hospital Receives HFAP Re-Accreditation

The heart program is the largest in the region and has received the following recognitions:

  • Nationally recognized as a Top 100 heart program
  • Achieved the highest Three-Star rankings by United Healthcare
  • Designated as a Center of Excellence by Anthem
  • Received state and national awards for clinical processes and services—including its rapid treatment of chest pain
  • Designated by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as a Chest Pain Emergency Center for its locations at Deaconess Hospital and Deaconess Gateway Hospital

The Heart Hospital is licensed by the Indiana Department of Health as an acute care hospital and is accredited by Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) for excellence in patient care quality.  HFAP is authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to survey hospitals for compliance with CMS standards.

The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway was one
of six VHA member hospitals to receive an Excellence Award for 
Clinical Effectiveness from VHA Inc., the national healthcare network. 
The Excellence Award recognizes achievement of exceptionally high levels of performance in clinical care when compared to national benchmarks.

The Heart Hospital has been named in the top 5% for outstanding patient experience. In its 2013 report, Healthgrades, the nation's most trusted, independent source of physician information and hospital quality outcomes, names The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway in the top 5% of hospitals nation-wide for outstanding patient experience.
