The Deaconess Classic for Women's Health is a volunteer-led women's golf tournament committed to increasing awareness of women's health and the importance of early detection. Thanks to the caring and generous people of the Tri-State and our supporters, the Deaconess Classic for Women's Health has accumulated proceeds of over $1,700,000. This money has helped do the following:
Provide over 9,000 mammograms and pelvic ultrasounds for women in need in the Tri-State area.
Purchase a stereotactic breast biopsy system. If a lesion is detected on a mammogram, a stereotactic breast biopsy provides a less invasive procedure than a surgical breast biopsy. It is a less painful, quicker outpatient procedure.
Provide ongoing support for a national breast cancer research trial performed at Deaconess Hospital.
All proceeds stay in the Tri-State region to fund services, education and research for women’s health issues.
Another Deaconess First
With the opening of the Deaconess Cancer Center in 1984, Deaconess Hospital became the first area hospital to recognize the special needs of cancer patients and their families. Today, the Deaconess Cancer Care Program remains the area's largest cancer treatment program.
Since our first Deaconess Classic for Women’s Health in 1995, we have been fortunate to have the support of many LPGA players.
