Chaplain Services

Deaconess' Religious Life Department offers prayer, counseling, and other spiritual services to all patients and their families. They can also provide you with information on advanced directives. Click for more information.


D-TV

D-TV is the internal television station at Deaconess Hospital main campus. The television in each patient room will automatically turn to the D-TV channel each time you turn on the TV. To find the station again, simply flip to channel 76 on any hospital television. D-TV runs programs designed to help patients and visitors find the services they need during their hospital stay as well as learn about important health related topics. D-TV will expand to other Deaconess locations in the future.


Dining for Visitors

Dining at Deaconess Hospital Main Campus:  Visitor dining is available in the Garden Cafe, located near the main lobby on the first floor of the hospital. Garden Cafe hours are 6:45am to 8:30pm each day. The Coin Cafe, also located on the first floor, provides a variety of vending machine food items and beverages 24 hours a day. Other vending areas may be available nearby. Please ask a staff member for the area closest to your room.

We have a coffee kiosk in the Main Lobby that serves regular coffee, espresso drinks and smoothies. It’s open from 6:30 to 11:00 am daily.

There is a Subway restaurant located on the first floor of the Deaconess Physician Center. Subway can be reached from the hospital without having to exit by using the second floor elevators near the pedestrian overpass that connects the parking garage to the hospital. Additionally, there are many well-known restaurants located near the hospital and throughout Evansville. A staff member can provide directions if you prefer a certain restaurant.

Dining at Deaconess Gateway Hospital and The Heart Hospital: Visitor dining is available at the Main Street Grill, located on the first floor of the hospital. Main Street Grill hours are 6:45am to 8:30pm each day. Please ask a staff member for the location of nearby vending areas.


Gifts and Flowers

Both hospitals operate a gift shop. Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are accepted and in-house deliveries will be made with a minimum purchase of $20. Click on the links below to learn more.

Guest Housing

You may spend the night in a patient room on some inpatient units with the nurse’s permission. If you plan to sleep in the patient’s room, please ask the nurse for a pillow and blanket. Do not bring your own from home. This helps maintain a sanitary environment.
 
Deaconess has a Hospitality House at the main campus. Family members of patients may request to stay there. Call (812) 450-7200 between 6am and 10pm for more information or to reserve a room.
 
Deaconess has two patient-family suites. One on unit 5500, Medical Renal Care Center, and the other on unit 3500, Surgical Medical Care Center. Each suite offers a well-appointed patient room, a living room, kitchenette, guest bedroom, and guest bathroom with shower. The family member/guest pays $99 per night to stay in the suite. The patient is not charged extra. Call (812) 450-SUITE to learn more.

Information Desk

Staff members at the Information Desk can help you find a patient room number and directions to that room. They have maps of the hospital and a phone directory if needed. You can find the Information Desk near the main entrance of each hospital.

Deaconess Hospital main campus Information Desk is staffed every day  from  6:30am – 8pm. The phone number is 450-2397.

Deaconess Gateway Information Desk is staffed Monday-Friday from 5am to 8pm, and on weekends and holidays from 7am-8pm.  The phone number is 842-4427.

Safety & Security

Deaconess Hospital Main Campus and Deaconess Gateway Hospital have patient valuable safes available.  Small personal items, like wallets, may be stored here. Other larger items, like purses, iPads, laptops, etc. should be sent home.  Deaconess Hospital is not responsible for the loss of or damage to any personal belongings or valuables retained in patients’ possession or brought to patients while in the hospital.  Additionally, any articles not claimed within thirty (30) days of discharge will be discarded.

Tobacco Free Campus

Smoking/Tobacco use is the number one preventable cause of death. In order to promote healthy living and safety for our visitors and staff, all Deaconess locations are tobacco free. This includes electronic cigarettes. Please refrain from using these products anywhere on Deaconess property. Are you interested in quitting smoking? Our smoking cessation program, Breath of Fresh Air, is free and coaches you through the process of quitting.

Parking and Shuttle Service

Parking at the Deaconess Hospital main campus and Deaconess Gateway campus is free. Handicapped parking is also available. For your convenience, members of the Security Department maintain a courtesy shuttle for guest, patient, and visitor use. If you would like a FREE ride from any parking lot to any building (or between buildings) on one of our hospital campuses, please call the phone number for your location:

Pharmacy

The Deaconess Family Pharmacy is located on the first floor of Deaconess Hospital main campus. Anyone with a Deaconess doctor or who was a Deaconess inpatient can use the pharmacy. This is a convenient way to fill prescriptions before leaving the hospital following discharge.

Pets

During an extended stay at the hospital, a beloved pet can make a patient feel more at home. Pet visitation is permitted at the Deaconess Hospital main campus location. Please review the Pet Visitation guildelines.
 

Visitation Hours

Deaconess Hospital Downtown: the doors leading into the main lobby of Deaconess Hospital are locked at 10 p.m. Anyone wishing to enter the hospital after that time must enter through the Emergency Room. The Emergency Room doors are located on the Columbia Street side of the hospital building. The doors to the main lobby will re-open at 6 each morning. This new policy is for the privacy and safety of our patients and visitors. It also helps reduce noise level in the hospital allowing patients to rest more peacefully.
