Respiratory and Oxygen Services

Deaconess Home Services works with physicians to meet the varied needs of patients requiring respiratory care at home. When necessary, our respiratory therapists aid in the set-up and fitting of machines and supplies.

Oxygen Concentrators are more mobile than cylinders or stationary liquid receivers, allowing patients to move around the house while receiving a continuous oxygen supply.

Portable Liquid Oxygen Systems
are ideal for patients with high-liter continuous flow needs, and for active patients participating in exercise programs.

Cylinder Oxygen Systems meet the low-flow, intermittent needs of non-ambulatory patients.

Oxygen Conserving Devices, when used with cylinder systems, limit lost oxygen and extend usable hours to give patients greater mobility and convenience.

Apnea Monitors are designed to monitor respiratory (breathing) and cardiac (heart) activity in infants. If irregularities are detected, the monitor will alarm to warn caregivers.

The Respiratory Medication Program coordinates all the respiratory needs of the patient. Whether for a prescription refill, an equipment need, or a therapy question, a patient can call one number for an immediate response.

A Home Services Customer Service Representative calls each patient monthly to confirm shipment of medication refills and to check for any possible questions, referring any clinical questions to a pharmacist. These monthly calls help to ensure appropriate patient medication usage and keeps the program flowing smoothly.

The pharmacist monitors each patient's drug regimen to assure maximum therapy benefits, and communicates when necessary, results to the physician. The program's free home delivery eliminates patient trips to the pharmacy and assures that patients will never be without proper respiratory medications.

Nebulizers
reliably deliver aerosolized medication to patients with such conditions as asthma, bronchitis, RSV, ect. Many insurances authorize the purchase of machines for continued long term use in the home. Deaconess Home Services assures system efficacy through in-depth patient instruction, and can deliver aerosolized medications to patient homes.

CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machines provide relief from symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea. The unit provides a low pressure airflow into your upper airway and holds the airway open, preventing it from collapsing, resulting in more restful sleep.

Patient Education
-- Individualized training and education are provided as part of the initial visit, as well as ongoing 24 hour support. This personalized service enhances self-confidence for both the patient and the caregiver.
