Timely and Effective Treatment

Trauma injuries are unexpected and frightening for patients and their loved ones. In the moments after injury, people often know that the damage can be life-altering and the medical decisions made in the hours to follow will impact them for years to come. Fortunately, Deaconess Orthopaedic Trauma professionals are highly trained and experienced treating seriously injured patients with complex orthopaedic injuries. They make the best medical decisions for every patient who comes through our doors.

What Are Orthopaedic Trauma Injuries?

These injuries include bone fractures, joint dislocations and severe damage to soft tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissues, blood vessels and nerves. Our orthopaedic surgeons are experienced treating damage to all of these complex systems.

Multidisciplinary Orthopaedic Trauma Team

Our orthopaedic surgeons work with  a carefully coordinated team of medical professionals. The team may include nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and more. For the more complex, multisystem injury patients, a team including general surgeons, vascular surgeons, plastic surgeons, and intensivists are involved as well. For the rehabilitation phase of recovery, surgeons enlist the expertise of physical and occupational therapists.

Director of Orthopaedic Trauma, Dennis Beck, M.D., is a key figure in our Orthopaedic Trauma program. With the help of biomedical research engineers from the University of Southern Indiana, he is bringing his original ideas for orthopaedic devices to Deaconess operating rooms. In addition to his research efforts, he is implementing cutting-edge practices at Deaconess, such as dedicating an operating room exclusively to unpredictable trauma surgeries, ensuring that we can quickly meet the needs of trauma patients. Using the most advanced technology, the finest equipment available, and priority surgical scheduling, we're revolutionizing orthopaedic trauma care for Tri-State patients.
