Our Commitment to Superior Stroke Care

Deaconess has a dedicated Stroke Team available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This interdisciplinary team responds when any inpatient or Emergency Department patient exhibits signs or symptoms of stroke. They provide early assessment and treatment, resulting in fewer deaths and less disability.

Stroke Team Members:

Within 15 minutes, our team is at the patient's bedside.
Our skilled professionals quickly perform all tests and assessments necessary for accurate diagnosis.
Our specialized physicians determine if the patient is experiencing a stroke, and if so, what type of stroke.
Based on the type of stroke diagnosed, our professionals administer the appropriate treatment in a timely and effective manner.

Our Stroke Team's Success

The key to our Stroke Team's success is timeliness.  They treat stroke before it has time to wreak havoc on the brain. According to the American Stroke Association, stroke patients are best cared for in hospitals with a dedicated stroke team. In fact, acute stroke patients are twice as likely to receive effective and timely medication in facilities with a dedicated stroke team than in hospitals without a team in place.
