Deaconess Health System treats all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, for emergent and medically necessary care. The Financial Assistance policy of Deaconess assists those who are uninsured, low income or medically indigent by providing financial relief to those who ask for assistance after health care has been provided.
Patients who know they will be unable to pay their medical bills immediately should contact a member of the Patient Financial Services team (details below). We want to work with you to determine types of financial assistance that may be helpful.
As part of the financial counseling application process, the hospital will assess your potential eligibility for health insurance coverage through federal and state programs such as Medicaid. If it is determined that you may be eligible for one of these programs, the hospital will request that you apply, and if needed, assist you in doing so.
We offer financial assistance to low-income individuals and families, in addition to no-interest payment plans. We can usually work with patients to prevent bills going to collections or beyond, but patients must reach out to us if and when they determine they won’t be able to pay their bill.
To be considered for financial assistance, please complete and submit an application (with requested attachments). Download the application here
