Admissions Criteria & Process
The CPE Program at Deaconess Hospital uses a rolling admission process. When a prospective student submits an ACPE application for a specific unit or program, the supervisor acknowledges the receipt of the application by telephone or email within two weeks and schedules an admission interview if one is still needed. When the application process is complete, the student will be notified of his/her acceptance or non-acceptance within two weeks.
For the Residency , there is a more comprehensive interview process because of the involvement of an admissions committee. Therefore, a decision may not be possible within the two week time frame. In this case, the candidate will be informed when a decision can be expected at the time of his/her personal interview. Every effort will be made to inform the candidate of the admission committee’s decision in a timely manner.
"An applicant's suitability for admission to any ACPE program is a matter of professional judgment by the ACPE accredited center in accordance with its admission policies." (from Standard 307 on page 9 of the ACPE 2010 Standards).

Current starting dates for CPE Programs at Deaconess Hospital
Full-time Level I CPE- The ten-week summer unit begins on the first Monday in June. The center may also offer ten week units beginning on the first Monday in September, December, and/or March at Supervisors' discretion
An twenty-week extended unit begins on the first Monday in January following New Years' Day
A one-year residency program begins annually on the Monday preceding September 1st
