Bone density tests are performed on the Dexa machine. These tests measure the bone
density in various sites of the body.
A bone density test can detect osteoporosis before a fracture occurs, predict your chances of fracturing in the future, and determine your rate of bone loss.
The patient lies on a table on their back and a scan is done of the lower spine, hip joint, and occasionally the wrist joint. The test is painless and uses very low amounts of radiation.
