Mobile Breast Center

With busy work, family and volunteer schedules, making an annual screening mammography appointment may not be high on your to-do list. But Deaconess is making it easier for you to access high-quality mammography services when and where you need them.
As the only mobile breast center in southern Indiana to offer 3D mammography, Deaconess Mobile Breast Center provides this service to women in the places where they work, live and socialize. This service is designed to ensure all women have access to an annual screening mammogram, regardless of your ability to pay or travel to a breast imaging center.

Annual screenings are covered as a preventive screening under most insurance plans. For your convenience, we will file a claim with your insurance provider on your behalf. 

If you do not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for a mammogram, you can still receive a screening – thanks to dedicated grants and other fundraising efforts.
It is recommended that annual screening mammograms for women begin when they turn 40, and every year after. By performing most mammograms in 15 minutes or less, we make it easy to fit this life-saving test into your busy day.

If you’re not a current Deaconess patient, don’t worry. We can easily take care of transferring records of your past mammograms to our office.

How do I schedule?

2. Call the Deaconess Mobile Breast Center scheduling line 812-450-MAMM (6266).

You will need the following information when calling to schedule your appointment.
  • Patient’s name and address
  • Phone numbers for work and home
  • Patient’s date of birth (month, day, year)
  • Name of your physician 

What do I bring to my mobile mammography appointment?

  • Insurance cards and photo ID must be presented at the time of service

Is it possible that the mobile breast center could cancel?

  • Yes - if we don’t meet our patient minimum three days before the date of service
  • Yes - if the mammogram coach or equipment needs service
  • Yes - in inclement weather conditions

How will I be notified if the mobile breast center cancels?

You will be contacted by someone from the Deaconess Mobile Breast Center by phone and rescheduled. When scheduling your appointment, be sure to give the scheduling department your current home, work and cell phone numbers in case of an emergency.

Our goal when we cancel is to relocate you to a convenient location or to reschedule the mobile breast center to come back to your facility. If this information is not known when you receive a cancellation notice, you will be contacted again with a make-up date/location.

Eligibility Requirements for annual screening mammograms on the mobile coach:

  • Must be a woman age 40 or older. A physician referral is not required but you must have a physician for reporting purposes.
  • Must be one year since your last mammogram
  • Must not be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • No new breast lumps or concerns. Patients should promptly contact their physician for evaluation if experiencing breast problems.
