Deaconess Cross Pointe
With 30 Pediatric and Adolescent beds and two Adult units consisting of (South Exempt 16-beds and North Hall 14-beds) Deaconess Cross Pointe provides inpatient crisis stabilization with an emphasis on group, family, educational and activity therapies. The Care Team Members (RN’s and MSW’s) coordinate care with psychiatrists. The outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Services also offer care to our customers.
Cardiovascular Care Center
The CVCC cares for cardiac telemetry patients, including the following: cardiac arrhythmia, unstable angina, pre/post pacemaker insertion, circulatory diseases, MI, pre/post open-heart surgery, ablations, stents and congestive heart failure. This 45-bed, patient-focused care center is designed with all private rooms and comfortable accommodations for family and visitors. Each room is equipped with a nurse server, allowing quick access to patients’ medical records, medications and supplies. Other amenities include a couch in every room, unit-based inpatient cardiac rehab and a dedicated open-heart education model.
Cardiovascular Cath Lab
The Cardiovascular Cath Lab treats inpatients and outpatients who require coronary and/or peripheral vascular diagnostic procedures, stent interventions, PFO’s, ASD’s, electrophysiology studies and pacemaker or AICD implants. Facilities include one cardiac cath labs, two combination cardiac/peripheral lab, one electrophysiology lab and a five-bed pre/post procedure holding area.
The CVICU specializes in the care of cardiac patients who need intensive care. This includes myocardial infarctions, CHF, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac caths, postcodes and renal failure. This unit also cares for patients requiring Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). This is a form of continuous dialysis done by the nurse at the bedside and the patient is 1:1. The unit has 16 private rooms equipped with monitoring systems and necessary supplies. There are six dialysis rooms and two negative-airflow rooms. All beds are total-care beds with chair capabilities and the use of fluoroscopy.
Cardiovascular Short Stay
CVSS is a procedural/observation unit designed to care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, percutaneous peripheral intervention, diagnostic arteriogram, electrophysiology study and pacemaker/AICD implantation. The unit includes eight overnight beds and eight admission/recovery beds. Our observation patient population includes chest pain, arrythmias, heart failure and other medical or surgical diagnoses requiring 24-hour observation with cardiac monitoring. Patients who require inotropic infusions on an outpatient basis are also cared for in this area.
The Emergency Department (ED) is a 38-bed unit that includes three critical care rooms, two isolation rooms, one decontamination room, one OB/GYN exam room, six Intake rooms, 25 general treatment rooms and a diagnostic x-ray suite. The ED includes a reception area, two triage bays, a patient/family lounge, an EMS lounge and a “quiet room”. Nine additional beds are included in the Extended Diagnostic and Therapeutic Unit (EDTU, Unit 1900). The ED provides diagnosis, treatment, patient education and referral services to any infant, child, adult or geriatric patient with a real or perceived emergency condition.
GI Lab/Endoscopy Center
The GI Lab cares for inpatients and outpatients who need GI procedures such as ERCP, EGD, colonoscopies, endoscopic ultrasound, Peg tube placement, biopsies, ph/motility, etc. The unit at Main campus has four procedure rooms, six post-procedure bays. The Gateway Campus GI Lab consists of two procedure rooms, five pre procedure bays and five post procedure bays. Patients at both campuses are admitted and recovered through the GI Lab. Both units are able to accommodate all procedures.
IV Therapy provides PICC placements, Midline placements, routine IV starts, PICC and Midline dressing changes and IV access support to all areas of the hospital.
Neuro Care Center
The NCC is a revolutionary concept in caring for neurological patients. This certified Primary Stroke Center contains three units in one to care for virtually any neurological or neurosurgical patient. The unit’s 17 beds include a six-bed Neuro-Transitional Care Unit open ward, in which nurses can view all patients from the nurses’ station; a five-bed observation area especially suited for neurosurgical patients staying less than 24 hours; and six private neuro medical/surgical rooms with space for the patient and family members.
Neuro Medical/Surgical ICU
The NMSICU is dedicated to caring for patients with complex medical, surgical and traumatic conditions requiring intensive care. Facilities include 16 beds—four with dialysis capabilities and two which are negative-air-flow rooms. Each room is self-contained with all needed supplies and monitoring equipment. All beds are total-care beds with chair capabilities and the use of fluoroscopy.
Oncology Pulmonary Care Center
The OPCC cares for patients who have cancer or pulmonary disease. It includes remote telemetry capabilities and also houses an outpatient infusion area and designated hospice rooms. This 23-bed, patient-focused care center is designed with all private rooms and comfortable accommodations for family and visitors. Each room is equipped with a nurse server, allowing quick access to patients’ medical records, medications and supplies. The outpatient infusion area includes six bays. We provide chemotherapy, antibiotic infusions and various outpatient procedures.
Ortho Medical Care Center
The OMCC cares for patients with orthopedic injuries, total hip replacements, total knee replacements and medical/surgical illnesses, including remote telemetry. This 44-bed, patient-focused care center is designed with all private rooms and comfortable accommodations for family and visitors. Each room is equipped with a nurse server, allowing quick access to patients’ medical records, medications and supplies.
The Pain Management Unit treats patients with acute and chronic pain using epidurals, pain pumps, nerve blocks, etc. The unit has ten beds, two procedure rooms and a recovery area.
Post Anesthesia Care Unit
Our Post Anesthesia Department participates in the pre-op preparation of surgery patients and provides immediate post-anesthesia care for all surgical patients (including ICU, Pediatrics, Same Day and Admission patients).
This department is located in the Deaconess Physician Center in room 340 on our Main Campus. Our goal is to prepare all patients for surgical or therapeutic/diagnostic procedures in order to prevent delays on the day of our patients scheduled procedure.. This appointment allows patients to have their pretesting lab, EKG’s, education and pre-registration done several days prior to their scheduled surgery/procedure.
Same Day Care Center
SDCC provides medical and surgical nursing care. Services include pre-op or pre-procedure preparation and recovery of patients scheduled as Same Day. The unit also provides pre-op care for patients that will be admitted to the hospital after surgery. Medical procedure examples might include bronchoscopies, radiologic procedures or medication/blood administration) all with the plan for same day completion and release.
The Surgery Department utilizes 14 operating suites to provide a wide range of surgical services. Procedures include cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurological, endovascular, laser, urological, colorectal, endoscopic, vascular, bariatric and general surgeries, as well as providing level II trauma care.
Surgical/Medical Care Center
This 61-bed area provides care for surgical/medical patients, with an emphasis on the post-operative patient. The Surgical/Medical Care Center (SMCC) has 16 semi-private rooms and 29 private rooms. The staff on SMCC provide care to a wide variety of patients including trauma patients, post-operative patients, genito-urinary procedures, head and neck cases, bariatric surgical procedures and multiple medical conditions. Nursing staff are viewed as knowledgeable in the management of complex wounds.
Surgical Trauma Cardiovascular ICU
Surgical Trauma Cardiovascular ICU is a comprehensive multidisciplinary critical care for all general surgical patients, trauma, cardio, vascular, and neuro surgery plus overflow medical patients. The universal concept of Unit 4800 allows for the ability to scale the patient beds to meet the patients acuity level. This includes Adult and pediatric trauma patients with life-threatening or potentially life-threatening multiple trauma or severe single-system injuries and general surgery patients, Traumas, Open Hearts, AAAs, carotids, thoracic and other vascular surgeries. All rooms are monitored and eight rooms equipped for hemodialysis.
Deaconess Wound Services is an out-patient Department caring for patients with chronic wounds or difficult-to-heal wounds. Many of these patients are diabetic, but other wound etiologies can include: pressure, arterial and venous insufficiency.
Deaconess Gateway Hospital
General Medical Telemetry
The General Medical Telemetry Unit is located on the 5th floor at Gateway in Tower A (A-500). This 32 bed unit consists of all private rooms with two patient rooms capable of negative airflow and two patient rooms equipped for hemodialysis treatment. There is also a three-bed dialysis suite where inpatients receive their hemodialysis treatments. This floor serves patients from early adulthood to later maturity with medical, cardiac and renal diagnoses such as pneumonia, septicemia, COPD, GI disorders, acute and chronic renal failure, heart failure, pre and post-cardiovascular procedure, chest pain and arrhythmia. Nurses working on this unit receive training in 12-Lead EKG, Basic Dysrhythmia and ACLS as well as education directed at care of the medical and renal patient population.
Orthopedics/Joint Replacement Program
This is a 32-bed unit located on the 5th floor Tower B at Deaconess Gateway. The unit consists of all private rooms with four rooms capable of negative air flow. The unit houses a physical/ occupational therapy gym for group sessions and visitor lounge. The staff is comprised of registered nurses, student nurses, and patient care associates with additional training as clerical associates and ortho technicians. This unit provides care for patient with orthopedic injuries, total hip replacement, total knee replacement, and medical/surgical needs.
This 12-bed unit offers patient-centered care for a variety of medical and surgical patients requiring intensive care. Two rooms are dialysis-ready. All rooms are private, with ample space for patient care, equipment and visitors. This unit has been designed to promote patient comfort and staff efficiency, with necessary items located conveniently for the caregivers.
This 16-bed unit provides care for neuroscience patients in a private room atmosphere. Rooms provide ample space for patient care, equipment and visitors. Patient types include spine and cranial surgery, neuro-medical conditions, and soon, neuro-endovascular procedures. The unit has been designed to promote patient comfort and staff efficiency, with necessary items located conveniently for the caregivers.
This 16-bed unit offers patient-centered care for a neuroscience, medical and surgical patients requiring intensive care. The unit is adjacent to the 16-bed Neuroscience Unit, which promotes continuity in care of the neuroscience patient. 6 rooms are dialysis-ready and 2 are negative airflow. All rooms are private, with ample space for patient care, equipment and visitors. This unit has been designed to promote patient comfort and staff efficiency, with necessary items located conveniently for the caregivers.
This 17-bed unit cares for infant, pediatric, adolescent and young adult patients requiring regular pediatrics as well as a Pediatric Intensive Care. All rooms are private, with ample space for patient care, equipment and visitors. This unit is staffed by PALS-certified RNs and many of the RNs are Certified Pediatrics Nurses.
The Surgery Department utilizes 8 operating suites to provide a wide range of surgical services to patients of all ages ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Procedures include cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, neurological, endovascular, laser, urological, colorectal, laparoscopic, general and robotic surgeries.
Surgery Oncology Unit
Surgery Oncology is a 32 bed inpatient adult comprehensive multidisciplinary unit that provides care to general surgery and oncology patient with remote telemetry capabilities. Surgery/Oncology provides pre and post op care to the surgery patient as well as provides chemotherapy and symptom management to the oncology patient. The environment is welcoming to families, and all patient rooms are private. Education of treatment is provided to both the patient and family to provide patient-centered care.
The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway
The Heart Floor at Deaconess Gateway is a 24 Universal bed concept devoted to the care of Cardiovascular Thoracic Medical and Surgical patients. Every room is hard wired for monitoring critical patients if needed. The patient stays in the same room from admission through discharge eliminating the need for transfers. There are three levels of Care on the floor identified as Telemetry, Step-Down and Critical Care. The Heart Floor cares for patient conditions including Myocardial Infarctions, Chest Pain, PTCA’s, Open Heart Surgery, AAA, Carotids, Thoracic, CRRT, etc. This is the only floor with this format in the Tri-State area.
