Call Center RN

The Call Center RN is a registered nurse who uses the nursing process and independent decision making skills along with a computerized set of medically approved guidelines in order to perform a telephone triage resulting in the disposition of the caller to the appropriate level of medical care, and instruction on appropriate care advice. 

After Hours triage clients include patients of all Evansville area pediatricians, many FP physicians, Wound Care Center and Anticoagulation Clinics. Triage also provided during select hours to callers to the Deaconess emergency rooms and 24/7 for employees of client companies who have contracted our triage service as a benefit to their employees. We also triage all needs for patients of the Deaconess geriatricians in area nursing homes using specialized guidelines and order sets.

Call Center nurses also are responsible for facilitating the transfer of patients from outlying hospitals in to the Deaconess Health System through the Deaconess Transfer Line.

Staff is directly involved in the ongoing revision of guidelines and department QA. Staff work approximately 8-10 weekends and 2-3 holidays/year.

Qualified candidates need to have sound assessment skills, be comfortable working with computers, and have excellent communication skills dealing with callers from all walks of life and levels of education. One year minimum bedside nursing care required.
